Tips & tricks
Format output, do more faster, and more...
Formatting
Save time by using the Fontics auto-format feature.

- Overview:Fontics can automatically format your output data and axes of charts or plots (i.e. decimal places, thousand/decimal separators or %).
- How it works:You have to explicitly "INSTRUCT" Fontics by formatting the respective input or output cells BEFORE evaluating the module.
- Single inputs:for Single inputs (i.e. picture on the left), the number format of the Reference cell is applied.
- Group inputs:for Group inputs (i.e. picture on the right), the number format of the top left cell of the data is applied.
Optimize
Make your simulations faster.
- Circular references:Although Fontics supports circular references, it slows down the simulations by 5 to 10x. Remember to turn "Use iterative calculation" in Calculation Options settings.
- Dynamic arrays/spill ranges:Not supported: input cells in any of the Impact Analysis modules cannot be part of dynamic arrays/spill ranges. Supported: output cells in any of the Impact Analysis modules or any cell in any other module can be part of a dynamic array/spill range.
- Linked workbooks:Not supported: as an input or output in any of the Impact Analysis modules. Trace will ignore references to cells in linked workbooks. Supported: As part of a formula in a your workbook or as inputs in all other modules (i.e. Series Analysis, Monte Carlo, Charts).
- Data tables:If you already have data tables in your model, you can speed up calculations by disabling automatic recalculations.
- Memory management:Fontics supports 5+ scenarios/second which can increase to 10+ scenarios/second if you close memory-intensive applications like multiple browser tabs.
Accelerate
Speed up your workflows.
- Duplicate modules:If simular simulations share the same inputs, you can duplicate a module and change the output. e.g. Scenario Analysis or Sensitivity Analysis for NPV and IRR often share the same inputs.
- Naming conventions:The naming convention for Fontics sheets is f_Module_A1a. You can rename the sheets to better organize you model.
- New sheets:New sheets are created to the right of the current active sheet.
Guardrails
Improve your experience with Fontics.
- Always:Always create a copy of your model before running simulations to allow an easy rollback if required.
- Do not:Do not interrupt the module evaluation to ensure Fontics reassigns the default input values to the original cells.
- Managing exceptions:If you interrupt the evaluation or Excel crashes, you can revert to your original model by tracing cell references of Fontics inputs and updating all to their original values.
